Underfloor heating
Underfloor heating warms the whole floor gently, so rooms heat evenly and there are no radiators on the walls. As a Nu-Heat Registered Installer, we fit systems that Nu-Heat designs for your home, whether it's a new build, an extension or a floor you already have. It runs at low temperatures, which makes it a natural partner for a heat pump, and it works with a boiler too.

What's under the floor
Three ways to fit it
Underfloor heating can go into almost any floor. Which kind depends on whether the floor is new, already there, or timber.
The pipes are set into a screed floor, which holds the heat and spreads it evenly. Ideal when the floor is being laid from scratch.
Where it works
New build, extension or renovation
- A good fit
New builds and extensions
The best time to fit it: the pipes go into the new screed floor, with insulation underneath.
- A good fit
Renovations
A low-profile system goes over your existing floor, so there's no need to dig it up.
- A good fit
With a heat pump
Both work best at low temperatures, which makes underfloor heating one of the best partners for a heat pump.
About heat pumps - Worth knowing
Choosing the floor
Stone, tiles and engineered wood pass heat best. With carpet, Nu-Heat says the carpet and underlay together should be no more than 2.5 tog, and ideally under 1.5 with a heat pump.
